Musical Autobiography

My name is Johana Nieto, I am 20 years old and I am a person that I loves to spend time with my family and friends; I really enjoy stay at home with my family watching television, films or soccer. Also, I like to go to the parties, restaurants, cinema, mall center, San Antonio or any place where I can enjoy and share with someone. Likewise, I am studying industrial engineering at Icesi University, I love my major, each semester I love a little more. I consider that my principal characteristic is say yes to everything , yes to experiment different cultures, languages, activities or challenges. I would like that when I think about what I have done in my life, remember the experiences (good or not good) about something that I did instead of asking me the question “What would have happened if this had been done...?”

Complement is the most appropriate word that defines music for me. In the street, on the bus, in a car, in a restaurant in a party, doing homework, doing exercise, doing housework, are different places or situations in which the music is the perfect complement to accompany us. I consider that music is the medio to help us to perform any activity. For example, when I read something, I like to listen to music at the same time; also, I consider that the best friend to do the housework is the music. Nobody does these activities without listening to music!!! I think that I do not have a type of music that defines me, I believe that music has a lot of variety to listen only one. So, I do not have problem to listen pop, rancheras, salsa, bachata, vallenato or reggaeton.

Performer: Ruben Blades.  Amor y Control is a studio album by Rubén Blades and Son del Solar released by CBS Records in 1992, featuring a variety of Caribbean and Latin American musical genres, which reached #14 on the Billboard Tropical/Salsa charts and received a Grammy nomination for best Tropical Latin Album. Blades makes a parallel between the pain of a family that loses the mother and the pain of another family that loses a child caught by drugs. I believe that this song represents my family because in the part that says "Que a pesar de los problemas familia es familia y cariño es cariño" is in reality what happens to us. It is an interpretation with the accompaniment of the piano, which without doubt tap the feelings of the people because we have all had a special person to which we have really considered friend. I consider myself a person of few friends, but I know I can really count on them when I need them. I think something ironic as time does not deteriorate a friendship, because especially 8 years ago my world revolved around people who today do not see much, but thanks to social networks we keep a contact to stay informed of what happens in our lives. I think that this challenge me is a big opportunity for me, since I am going to face to live alone, to study in another country, a new culture, a new language and a few new persons. Likewise, I have a big fear, on having left my family, having lived alone, having looked for a new house, having studied in another language, having found my internship.
