Song: Amor y Control.
Performer: Ruben Blades.
Amor y Control is a studio album by Rubén Blades and Son del Solar released by CBS Records in 1992, featuring a variety of Caribbean and Latin American musical genres, which reached #14 on the Billboard Tropical/Salsa charts and received a Grammy nomination for best Tropical Latin Album.
Blades makes a parallel between the pain of a family that loses the mother and the pain of another family that loses a child caught by drugs. He says it's two different stories but, at last, two equal tragedies. This song invites parents to give their children "love and control." The first is easy, the second requires sacrifice and effort.
I believe that this song represents my family because in the part that says "Que a pesar de los problemas familia es familia y cariño es cariño" is in reality what happens to us. In my family there are all kind of person from a gay until a "crazy" that always ends up fighting with all. But despite the way of being of each one, we are a very united family and we try to make a lunch, a bingo, a walk or any activity that hold the union family.
I will never forget the night of Friday, January 16, 2015, in which the whole family spent the night in the waiting room of Valle del Lili, waiting for what could happen with my grandmother, who on Saturday morning died. At that moment we felt that our family was collapsing, but at the same time we decided to keep the family together forever, and not wait for an emergency or tragedy to come together.
I believe that since this event this song became important to me. Another thing I like about this song is that I feel different things when I listen to it, if I am happy I am proud of the family that God gave me, or if on the contrary I am sad, I start to cry with the song, and I am afraid to think of any of them missing me.
